Been working nonstop the past 24 hours to get things ready for the show next week, haven't been this exhausted in long while. Managed to finish recording and mix 5 songs for the EP and hand-make the cassettes. The new batch of T-shirts also got delivered today (after I voted, but before I went to the laundromat), 2 designs available, Patsy Cline and Matthew Modine, in all sizes.
I was suffering from the worst tension headaches I've ever had the past few days but I think they'll abate now.
All I've got to focus on now is rehearsing with the band and making sure the whole night goes well.
I think I feel the proudest I've ever been. To write the songs (with the lyrical and percussive help of my good friend George who I couldn't have done any of this without), to record and mix them myself, to handprint and produce the cassettes, to organise a show all by myself, to spend £400 on all of it and not mind one bit because all I want is for people to enjoy it all and to have a good night.
If anything positive comes from it that will be nice but it feels good to not even mind, the whole process has been a reminder that with a bit of effort I can express myself and enjoy it for no other reason than to do it. I would love to be able to do this more often.
So come along if you can, I think it will be a magical evening.
